We warmly welcome you to the ABERFELDY TRIATHLON 2019 – Sunday 18th August 2019.

  • 1900m Swim in the spectacular Loch Tay.
  • 90km Road Cycle on quiet (and challenging!) roads of Highland Perthshire.
  • 21km Run in the grounds of beautiful Taymouth Castle.

Sanctioned/Permitted by Triathlon Scotland

Aberfeldy Triathlon is organised as a collaboration between Durty Events (Craggy Island Triathlon, Strathclyde Park Triathlon, Aviemore Triathlon) and Richard Pearson (Scottish Triathlon scene stalwart, organiser of BTF Event of The Year).

Set in the beautiful Highland Perthshire region, this great Middle Distance race (1900m Swim, 90km Bike, 21km Run) takes in the cool, clear waters of Loch Tay, challenging roads over the shoulder of Schiehallion, a circumnavigation of the wild Loch Rannoch, and the grounds of the spectacular Taymouth Castle.

A real test in an amazing place – in short, THE classic Scottish triathlon.

New for 2019

This year, thanks to Mains of Taymouth Estate we have been given permission to set up a temporary campsite for the event weekend, this will be located a 15 minute walk from Transition 1 just along the Drummond Hill Road.  For further information please see our accommodation tab below.

Charity Partner

CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young

We are delighted once again to be working with CRY who will be our Event Charity Partner in 2018. They will deliver a drinks station on the Run Course and we will have collection buckets over the Race weekend, please give what you can to this wonderful charity. Their work towards preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families is critical.

1900m Swim in the spectacular Loch Tay.

The swim and T1 are based at Taymouth Marina on the shores of Loch Tay. Taymouth Marina is dominated by breathtaking views of Ben Lawers and the surrounding landscape.

The stunning scenery, coupled with an impressive range of on-site facilities, making Taymouth Marina the ideal swim and T1 venue.

90km Road Cycle on quiet (and challenging!) roads of Highland Perthshire.

Leaving Taymouth Marina, the Bike course takes athletes on a spectacular journey into the breath-taking Highland Perthshire Countryside. Heading towards Kinloch Rannoch across the shoulder of Schiehallion the route circumnavigates Loch Rannoch and re traces itself back over the climb out of Rannoch and back to T2 in the Kenmore Recreation Ground.

T1 (Taymouth Marina Watersports Centre) and T2 (Taymouth Castle) are very near each other – approx. 1km apart and easily walkable. Nice and easy!.

21km Run in the grounds of beautiful Taymouth Castle.

The run course will take athletes on a multi lap course through the stunning grounds of Taymouth Castle.

Race HQ will be in at the Sports Pavilion in the grounds of Taymouth Castle, Kenmore village, located at the east end of Loch Tay, and around 10km from Aberfeldy on the A827.

Event car parking will be located at Taymouth Castle. Event Briefing will be at Kenmore Primary School, again in the grounds of Taymouth Castle, and c. 300m from Race HQ.

PLEASE NOTE: Race registration/sign-on is on Saturday 18th August – there will be no registration on race day itself.

The distanced between T1 and T2 is approx. 1000m. T1 and T2 will be open from 05:30 on Sunday morning to allow for Run Kit to be dropped into T2 and your bike racked into T1.

We recommend that athletes rack their bikes before 06:30 and note that both will close at 07:00.

Both transitions are security areas and only competitors wearing their number will be allowed access. Mount and dismount lines will be clearly marked.

There will be three cut-offs imposed at the race.

1:15hrs for the Swim section
5:15hrs for the cumulative time for Swim + Bike
8:30hrs at the finish line

Please read the athletes briefing, it is full of information such as race timings and course details etc and should provide answers to many of the questions you may have.
