How exciting! - the BBC2 Adventure Show have announced their schedule of events for 2013, and we're on it. Twice!. The team will be covering both the Celtman! (www.cxtri.com) and The Heb (www.theheb.org) events. Entries are open, but coming in nicely for The Heb, so if you fancy racing (and being on the telly/having an incredible few days in the Hebrides), get your entry in!.
New Celtman! Film ReleasedThe new film of the 2012 Celtman! Extreme Scottish Triathlon has been released, and it's a corker. A really well made, beautiful and inspirational film. It is professionally produced by a Greek crew that supported one of the athletes - it's more certainly not 'run-of-the-mill' Go Pro footage. Enjoy!.

Beers, camping, food and music at Selkirk Rugby Club afterwards, and a relaxed 'Ride with the Locals' thing on the day after.

All the details are www.theheb.org CELTMAN! wins British Triathlon 'Event of the Year'
CELTMAN! Extreme Scottish Triathlon has won another prize!. In addition to being named Triathlon Scotland 'Event of the Year', we're also very proud to be the recipient of the British Triathlon 'Event of the Year' Award for 2012 - effectively the 'Oscars' for triathlon. The award (a rather nice glass trophy since you asked!) was presented at the annual dinner at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on 17th Nov.
CELTMAN! is an iron-like race with a twist - 3.8km Sea Loch Swim, 202km Road Bike round Wester Ross, and finally a 42km Run that is mostly off-road and takes in two Munro mountain tops. The ballot for the 2013 race is now closed. Our email address is here. The race website is here. Craggy Island Tri to host Scottish Cross Triathlon Champs 2013
Craggy Island Triathlon has been selected to host the Scottish Cross (aka Off-Road) Triathlon Championships 2013. The race will also form one of the two Scottish legs (the other is our new Aviemore Triathlon race on 11th Aug) of the UK-wide Scott X-Tri Series, which for 2013 is also the British Championships Series.
The Champs and X-Tri race will take place alongside the usual low-key, newbie-friendly, end of season muddy fun that is the Craggy Island Tri. Race dates for 2013 are; Sat 31st August - Craggy Island Day 1 Sat 31st August - Scottish Cross Tri Champs and X-Tri Series Sun 1st Sept - Craggy Island Day 2 Craggy Island is unique in the UK (World?) - you'll swim from the mainland to a Scottish Island, and then bike and run on the island itself. The Bike course is a corker of a loop on swoopy twintrack and singletrack - it forms a lap of the island, so sea views are guaranteed. The run is a stiff 8km, some on trackless hillside, and includes going through a cave beneath the ruins of Gylen Castle!. Race website: www.craggyislandtriathlon.com New St. Mary's Loch Standard Distance Tri and Durty Triathlon open for 2013 entry.
The well established and much loved Durty Triathlon is back for a 6th year on 27th July 2013.
This time it's accompanied by the St. Mary's Standard, a spectaular new open water race!. Durty Tri is once again a great mix of challenging course, tough hills, grin-inducing descents and a bit of mud. Well, quite a lot of mud actually - why do you think it's called 'Durty'!. The same pair of courses will be on offer (Long Hard Durty - 1500m Swim, 30km MTB, 10km Trail Run, and Short Fast Durty - 750m Swim, 15km MTB, 5km Trail Run), as well as a rare opportunity for kids and youths to race open water in the Durty Aquathon. The following day we take a step towards the clean side with our first 'normal' race. However, St. Mary's Standard is far from being a standard Standard. Great rolling roads through the Yarrow and Moffat Water valleys - you'll pass the amazing Grey Mares Tail waterfall, and a flat (honest!) 10km run beside the loch on the Southern Upland Way path. |
